1. Explain the title, Gorillaz in the Bay.
The title Gorillaz in The Bay sort of formed itself once the book was complete. Originally it was named something else but Gorillaz in The Bay was a better fit.
2. What inspired the story?
Gorillaz in The Bay was inspired by real life events that took place in my life and the lives of people very close to me.
3. Do you get writer’s block, and if so, how do you cure it?
When I have writers block, I usually just vision myself watching a movie and allow my subconscious to tell me what would naturally happen next. If that doesn’t work, I will usually pick up a book about something completely different, by Nora Roberts, Jackie Collins or Lee Child and they inspire me.
4. What gave you the courage to write and publish this book?
I don’t think it took me courage to write the book. For me it started out as a “I bet I can do that” type of thing. Then it was “Let’s do it”! After it was written I let a few people read it and their feedback made the decision for me to publish it.
5. Dead or alive, if you could have lunch and conversation with one author, who would it be?
If I could have lunch with an author it would be with Maya Angelou. I would allow her to lead the conversation and I would go wherever the conversation took us.
