LAST LINE from Rejected

Introduction; The premise of this submission was they supplied the last line and as writers, we had to submit a story with the last line they provided. The provided last line was: “Jordan looked me in the eye and said, “I trust you.””

I thought I created an amazing story that would get chosen. I was wrong. I received an email of rejection. Below is my submission.

Shattered glass woke me up. Woke me up with fear. Soon, I heard screaming. Not just screaming, but words to go along with it. I was so paralyzed with fear I wasn’t sure what to do. Call the police, go downstairs with a weapon, or ignore it. I knew I couldn’t ignore it, so I slowly got out of bed and grabbed the tennis racket from my closet. I wasn’t sure what it could do, but it was the only thing I could find. I slowly walk down the stairs as carefully as I could. I heard Jordan shout,

“You’re a crazy bi!” Before he could finish the word, I heard Yahara, yell out,

“Don’t you dare say that word or I will kick you where I should.”

I wasn’t too sure what was happening. I assumed he was caught again. This was my brother’s third girlfriend. For whatever reason he couldn’t keep his eyes and the rest of his body away from other women while he was dating. My only thought was she found out about his cheating ways. I heard glass shattering everywhere. As I reluctantly walked down the stairs, I heard a very loud shatter and a really loud screech from Jordan. I never heard him yell like that. I had my phone. I stopped at the stairs and immediately dialed 9–1–1. Yahara responded,
