National Roof Over Your Head Day

Today (December 3rd) is National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day to be grateful for the shelter you have, whether it be a traditional house, or an apartment, trailer, a car, or you live in a homeless shelter. It is a day to be thankful for having some kind of roof over your head. Below is a poem of gratefulness of having shelter.
In the haven of a shelter, warm and tight,
Where walls embrace, and windows let in light,
A refuge from the storms that may arise,
A sanctuary beneath the open skies.
The roof above, a steadfast guardian,
Protects from rain and wind’s relentless spin.
Against the cold, its sturdy arms provide,
A haven where the heart and soul can hide.
Oh, grateful heart, in humble dwelling’s grace,
For walls that shield, and floors that find their place.
A cozy corner, where memories bloom,
A space that shelters through the darkest gloom.

Through seasons’ dance, as time continues on,
The shelter stands, a haven that is drawn.
A silent guardian in the quiet night,
Where dreams take flight, illuminated bright.
No grandiose mansion, no palace grand,
Yet here, within these walls, I firmly stand.
For gratitude resides in humble space,
And simple shelter holds a sacred grace.
In each creak and moan, a lullaby,
A melody of safety, by and by.
The hearth, a beacon in the shadow’s play,
A testament to gratitude each day.
So, let us cherish this abode so dear,
A testament to love that lingers near.
For in the shelter, gratitude is found,
A sanctuary where joy and peace abound.
