Saving America: An Author Interview with Rohkea Campana
Rohkea Campana is a two-time author with books that may not be politically correct and may be offensive to a certain group of people. He published is first book in 2019 and his second recently in 2021. He took some time to answer a few questions for me.
1. Was being an author a childhood dream?
No. I wanted to be a chef. I enjoyed cooking for myself and thought I would be a chef at a fancy restaurant.
2. When did you begin your publishing journey?
As I was watching, hearing, and reading the daily news in America, I realized how dim and depressing living in America is. Definitely not the best country in my book. I began to have bad thoughts of what I wanted to do to make it better. I knew that what I was thinking was wrong and would not be any better. I decided to write down and decided to publish my thoughts.
3. What did you learn about the publishing process?
I noticed that no matter how many times I edited my first draft, how many mistakes I overlooked. I didn’t realize one could overlook their own work multiple times. I edited it four times and still found mistakes. The other thing that I realize is how much I did not know about advertising and marketing. I am still learning.
4. What inspired you to write your book, “Saving America?”
The current events that are daily in America. The same ad stories of segregation, discrimination, and hatred in this country caused me to write a book about what might make America better.
5. What can the reader learn in reading this book?
That love conquers all hate. Even when you feel like hating, hatred only begets more hatred and that treating people badly as they have treated you is not the answer, even when it seems like it, simply because Karma must return to everyone.
6. What advice would you give an aspiring author?
Do research on publishing fully, before starting. There are three options and depending on where you want to spend your time, energy, and money on, determines which one is best for you. Get books on publishing, and read, read, and read some more. Check out YouTube videos on publishing and if you can find any webinars, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc. on publishing attend them and take notes. Then once you have spent at least three months in researching publishing, advertising, and marketing, then jump on in. You will learn along the way what does and what does not work for you. Don’t expect to have the perfect journey in publishing. The perfect journey does not exist. Lastly, know that this journey will exercise ad strengthen your patience muscles or frustrate your patience muscles, it depends on how you let the journey make or break you.
7. Could you see this book one day as a film?
I surely could. If the opportunity arises, I would definitely allow someone to produce this into a film. Depending on the contract of course.
8. Are you currently working on another book?
No at this time. I have recently published another book, K.K.K.K., which is a story about a man who seeks the revenge of his father’s murder.

10. What was the latest book you read? Did you enjoy it?
The Chip Maker: Prophecy of the Beast by Bridgette L. Collins is an amazing book so far. It grabbed my attention on the first page. I am still reading it and enjoying it so far.
