For Immediate Release

Cry, a theatrical masterpiece from prolific author and playwright Casey Bell, brings to the stage a poignant exploration of human emotions, hidden imperfections, and the consequences of keeping pain locked away. This compelling drama dives deep into family dynamics, unearthing the raw truths that we all struggle to face and encouraging audiences to reflect on the importance of emotional release.

Cry begins with a seemingly simple marital conversation between Brian and Brenda about Brian’s family. While Brenda’s decision not to join Brian for a family dinner raises questions, it also serves as the spark that ignites curiosity, drawing the audience into the unfolding drama. As we are introduced to Brian’s extended family, we meet Lucas, his cousin; Lesley, Lucas’ mother; Geoffrey, his stepfather; and a host of others, including sisters Vivian, Heather, and Tasha, along with Evelyn, Brian’s mother.

In the first act, family secrets start to unravel at the dinner table. The audience learns of the family’s past struggles with molestation, domestic violence, abortions, and rejection. Tensions escalate, and as arguments erupt, long-buried emotions and hidden traumas surface, leaving each family member shaken and unsure of one another.
